V-Strom 650 Gas Mileage Data
After posting fuel economy data for my ’04 DL1000, Kevin C from Georgia was kind enough to send me some data he collected while riding his 2009 650, including his break-in tank!
Kevin writes, “This is 87 octane fuel in the Marietta, GA area. Mostly commuting, with some highway riding.”
| Miles | Gallons | Miles/Gallons |
| 159.1 | 4.452 | (Break-in) 35.74 |
| 267.9 | 4.616 | 58.04 |
| 246.8 | 4.542 | 54.34 |
| 256.9 | 4.647 | 55.28 |
| 257.4 | 4.373 | 58.86 |
| DL650 Average MPG | 52.45 | |
Thanks again, Kevin.

I normally get 70+mpg on my 650 – that’s only 60mpg in US gallons though. I’m cruising country roads at around 70mph, not much traffic (or cops) here on lovely Prince Edward Island, Canada

In the 8 months that I’ve owned my 650 I’ve gone from just slightly better than 49 mpg to 56.092 mpg on my last tank full. With slight adjustments to my riding style I have hopes of breaking 60 mpg by the end of summer.
