4 - STROKE
TL/SV/DL BULLETIN NO. 35
DATE:7/17/2006

SUBJECT:		LOW RPM SURGING
MODEL: 			ALL 2004 - 2005 (K4 & K5) DL1000
			EARLY 2006 (K6) DL1000 (BEFORE JS1VT53A*62101509)
REFERENCE: 		DL1000 SERVICE MANUAL (99500-39234-O3E)

NOTICE:
Most DL1000 owners are fully satisfied with their DL1000 V-twin operational charac-
teristics. However, we have found that a small number of customers who own
DL1000 2004-2005 and early 2006models may possibly experience a surging or
hesitation under certain operating conditions. This operational characteristic is most
noticeable when operating at steady throttle settings in the low rpm range.

For those customers who routinely operate their unit under these conditions, and whose
unit exhibits surging or hesitation, an optional ECM has been developed to minimize this
characteristic.

To ensure customer satisfaction with their DL1000, Suzuki will replace the ECM on a
customer’s unit which exhibits this condition at no charge to the customer.

To determine if an optional ECM is required, the following maintenance related adjustments
must be checked regardless of mileage prior to ECM replacement. It is recommended that
the unit has a minimum of 600 miles to insure proper break-in. Misadjustments to these
systems will produce symptoms similar to those described above.

* Throttle Body Synchronization
* Valve Clearance Adjustment
* Idle Speed Adjustment
* TPS Adjustment

Procedure
Replace the original ECM with the revised ECM. Refer to Service Manual page 4-15 for
component location. Make certain that the ignition key is in the off position when
disconnecting the original ECM and connecting the replacement ECM.
